Privacy Policy

In short: Demarc runs entirely on your device. Your traffic, DNS lookups, and app data are never sent to us or anyone else — everything shown in the app is processed and stored locally.

This Privacy Policy describes how Demarc, developed by NetAPI, handles information when you use the App.

Summary

Demarc is a network monitoring tool that runs entirely on your device. It does not send your network traffic, browsing activity, or personal data to any external server operated by us or any third party. All processing happens locally on your phone.

How Demarc Works

Demarc uses Android's local VPN capability (VpnService) to inspect network traffic generated by apps on your device. This is used purely for on-device analysis — Demarc does not route your traffic through any remote server. Packets are read, analyzed, and immediately forwarded back out to the internet as normal.

Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following to our servers or any third party:

  • Your network traffic content
  • DNS lookups or browsing history
  • App usage data
  • Personal identifying information

All connection data, DNS records, and per-app statistics shown in the App are stored locally on your device only, and are not accessible to us.

The One Exception: Threat Intelligence Feed (Pro feature, optional)

If you enable the optional threat-intelligence alerts feature (a Pro feature), the App downloads a list of known-malicious IP addresses and domains from a threat intelligence provider. This is a one-way download of a public blocklist — no information about you or your device is sent as part of this request beyond what's technically necessary to fetch the file (e.g., your IP address, as with any internet request). This feature is off unless you enable it.

Permissions

Demarc requests the following permissions:

  • VPN service access: required to inspect network traffic locally, as described above.
  • Notifications: to show an ongoing status notification while monitoring is active, as required by Android for foreground services.

In-App Purchases

Demarc offers an optional one-time purchase ("Pro") to unlock additional features. This purchase is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment information — that is handled directly by Google.

Children's Privacy

Demarc is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
